You don’t ALWAYS have to leave the house to get in a good workout.  So many of us have conditioned ourselves to think that if we don’t haul ourselves to the gym we can’t REALLY workout.. myself included.

But what about days there just isn’t time or you don’t have the motivation?

Like, during the holiday season when you need to shop, wrap gifts, make food and clean your house?

Or what about during exams when you need to be spending more time studying than what you are gonna wear to the gym?

Or how about the news moms who can’t leave their kids at home or just don’t have the motivation to get out and exercise in public?

Whatever you reason is, a workout at home is far greater than no workout at all.

Of course I like to train at the gym, but on days I travel or days I’ve been snowed in, I’ve had no choice.. and if I don’t get in some kind of sweat sesh, I am not pleasant to be around.  Home workouts can really be quite handy and can help you build muscle and lose fat to get you closer to your goals. A heck of a lot closer than if you don’t workout at all.

So with that said, here are my top 8 benefits to doing at home workouts:

  1. It saves you time. You don’t have to get dressed, fix your hair/ make up/ etc, drive, deal with traffic, find parking, check in, deal with talking to people, drive home, etc. You can just roll out of bed and get it done before your brain even realizes what you are doing. Or you can get in you workout routines while dinner is in the oven. Whenever you do it you can just get right to it and when you are done, you’re already at home.
  2. It saves you money. Gym memberships cost money. Gas costs money. Personal fitness trainers cost even more. Working out at home is free. Sure, having a little bit of equipment will cost something, but if you are using it everyday, then you will get your money’s worth. And there are plenty of ways to pick up some dumbbells and resistance bands for little money at a place like TJ Max or on Craigslist.
  3. Everything you need is right there. If you are waiting for an important phone call from your boss, you can keep your cell phone with you. If you have kids you don’t have to worry about hauling them around and finding someone to watch them. You don’t have to pack headphones, gum, water, your post workout shake and everything else because it’s all right there for you.
  4. You can do it at your convenience. We need to be able to train on our own time. My gym is only open early in the morning or in the evening but I like to train mid-day and that’s annoying. Maybe you need to workout before everyone else wakes up or maybe you are a night owl and want to workout late – if you train from home you can do it on your time.
  5. You don’t have to worry about sharing equipment.  Straight up.. I don’t want to have someone work in with me nor do I ever want to ask someone to work in with them. I want to use the weights I want to use when I want to use them and I know I’m not the only person who feels this way. Plus, when you are doing at home workouts, you don’t have to worry about equipment being sweaty or someone not cleaning up after themselves because it’s your own personal sweat so who cares?!
  6. No one will be judging you. If you are a little self conscious then this is perfect because no one can see you when you are in your own home. When I first started exercising I had no clue what I was doing and I was so nervous to be in front of people because I always wondered if I was doing it wrong. It’s nice to be able to do my workout routines from home while building the confidence in exercise and getting comfortable.
  7. You never have to miss a day due to weather. I hated that about living in Boston. If it snowed or there was five feet of snow and ice still on the ground I couldn’t leave the house and it screwed up my personal fitness schedule. If you already workout from home you have a plan and you can get it done!
  8. Training at home is just downright convenient. There is nothing more I can say about this except that knowing you can get it done in your home means that you have no excuse to miss your workout routines.

At the end of the day you can workout from home or you can NOT workout.. which one do you think is more beneficial?

If you WANT to train at the gym but you know it continuously does not happen for you, then why not go ahead and prepare yourself to just workout at home – it’s so convenient and then you no longer have an excuse!

What’s even greater is that I have created a perfect training program just for you to do all of you workout routines from home – and all you need is a resistance band!

In the Six Week At-Home Training Program you have five workout routines a week laid out for you to help you build muscle with strength training and lose fat with high intensity interval cardio and you can get all of your workout routines done in less than 30 minutes!
