How many times have you tried to lose weight, change your diet and fallen flat? If you’ve experienced this, you should hire a coach for a meal plan! Here are ten ways Having a Nutrition Coach Will Help You Lose Fat

As a coach people come to me a lot and tell me about their failed attempts and it comes down to: too much restriction, not having a plan, lack of accountability, lack of awareness of one’s emotional state and needs and not ever instilling habits.

When I work with clients on nutrition, what I offer is much more than instruction on what to eat. You could find a meal plan on the internet that would probably help you lose weight, but if you cannot stick to it, what difference does it make?

Here are my top ten reasons you should hire me as your nutrition coach:

1. It provides accountability.

Your coach should be checking in with you regularly.  They should be emailing you to find out how you feel, how you are doing with the plan and for progress photos to hold you accountable. I check in with my clients every day in our Facebook group, every other week for an in depth look at their habits, eating patterns and emotional states via email. I also make myself available to reply to emails anytime a client needs me. Not to mention, you spent the money.. do you really want to waste it?

2. We we together to help you create and maintain good habits.

Let’s say your current habit is waking up, skipping breakfast, living on coffee most of the day, eating a little snack and light lunch, then rummaging through your cabinets all afternoon and evening. Just because I suggest making egg every morning for breakfast does not mean you are automatically going to do that every single day. It takes time to establish and build habits. We will work together to help you build habits that work for you and stick with them.

3. We work together to help you create awareness.

I want YOU to know why you make the choices you make all day long. There is a reason behind every decision you make and when you understand the drive behind those choices, you can then make conscious change. I constantly ask my clients what they ate and why, regardless of if those choices are in alignment with their goals. The goal is to always be asking ourselves what we need and if this eating decision fits those needs, then make the choice to eat it or not from there.

4. The meal plan is based around your daily schedule.

When I create a meal plan for my clients I ask them what they do for work, if they have access to a fridge, can bring food with them, etc.  I need to know how many meals will be eaten out of the home, when they workout, and how much time they have to cook.  My clients who are in sales eat out a lot and I have to factor that in, whereas my stay at home moms can cook more of their meals and may be able to eat more frequently.

5. The meal plan will fit YOUR caloric needs.

When a meal plan is created for an individual their daily calorie expenditure should be taken into consideration. So let’s say if, including activity, you burn 2500 calories a day, but you want to lose major body fat, then we know the meal plan should be somewhere around 2000 calories a day. But what if your friend burned 2100 calories a day and you started following her meal plan of only 1600 calories a day?  You’d be starving! This kind of restriction is bound to lead to a poor relationship with food and ultimately lack of adherence to the plan.

6. The meal plan should be based on your dietary restrictions.

I always ask my clients if they are Paleo, vegetarian, are lactose intolerant, hate fish etc.  If you found some model’s meal plan I know you know that you would need to omit the cottage cheese if you were lactose intolerant, but do you know what you would replace it with?  If you have issues with your thyroid, histamines, SIBO, autoimmunity.. these are all things I am experienced in working around.

7. A meal plan should meet you where YOU are.

If you are used to living on fast food and sugary coffee drinks it would be unrealistic to immediately start following a Paleo meal plan. Similarly, if you have only been eating 1200 calories a day for the last year because you are afraid you will get fat if you eat more, we can’t have you jump right into eating 1800 calories a day. It is my job to help my clients make 1-2 small changes at a time, make those a habit, then build on that. This is how we make lasting changes.

8. A coach will have compassion and give you the kick you need.

I have clients email in on a pretty regular basis about how they got totally derailed on the weekends.  Us coaches have tips and tricks up our sleeves to help give you the kick in the butt you need to push yourself to do better and stay on track. But it’s also our job to have the compassion to remind you that you also need to be a real person, enjoy treats in moderation and be happy.

9. It’s easy to get bored and get off track.

If you find a two week meal plan online, what do you think is going to happen after a month or so?  Personally I cannot fathom eating chicken with salsa and broccoli at every single lunch for four weeks straight, much less longer than that. I know exactly what would happen.. I’d give up.  You need someone that can help you mix it up but stay within your macros, calories and eating protocol.

10. It is so easy to binge when you are not getting enough of the right things or feeling restricted on a meal plan.

I’ve had so many women come to me after working with a coach who put them on a strict plan then didn’t follow up with them or listen to their needs.  How can one rely on so few calories and never have any treats or cheats?  What happens when one is so restricted like this?  They cave and binge and eat a bunch of bad stuff and it’s so sad because they feel like failures. I wish this would stop happening once and for all.  YOU NEED TO BE ON A MEAL PLAN THAT IS BUILT FOR YOUR BODY.  One that includes treats and cheats and sometimes foods, or whatever you want to call it!

I need to be able to eat cookies and cheese cake sometimes.  I need to be able to enjoy margaritas with my friends on the weekends.  This is LIFE people.. you only get one!  You cannot possibly go through it never enjoying food or drinks and constantly restricting yourself.  If your treats are built into your plan you will not derail your weight loss/ fat loss/ muscle building/ strength building goals.  They will keep you on track, and if built in at the right times, can even help you!

And I just so happen to be NASM Certified Weight Loss specialist and coach with experience since 2010.

I work with clients in a 1:1 capacity to help them with a custom meal plan that works for them, then help them stick to it!

I’m a 44 y/0 female, 153 lbs., 5’3 with a big problem..my huge arms. They are out of proportion. i’m fat everywhere but my arms are horrible. I hired a personal trainer a month ago and one of the things that he said to me is that arm fat is hard to lose. My forearm is skinny so I look deformed. I have been working out 3x a week doing a lot of exercise specially biceps/triceps exercise. Is lipo the only solution for my problem?

Thanks in advance for your help!
