A calorie is simply a unit of measurement for energy. Celery, cucumbers, tuna, eggs, olive oil, grapes.. even glue or paper has calories! And you can also burn calories by having a beating heart, typing, driving, running, squatting and eating. It’s energy in something so you consume calories as you eat and you burn calories as you love and act.
You need to know how many calories you burn in a day. You can do that by going here: https://kyrawilliamsfitness.com/how-many-calories-do-i-burn-in-a-day/
That is going to help you figure out how many calories you burn simply being alive (your BMR) and how many calories you burn including your activities each day (TDEE) – get both. It is very eye opening for most people.
Then look at how many calories you consume by tracking for a day or two in MyFitnessPal.
Yes, a calorie deficit can help you burn fat. It’s one of the more important things you can do to lose fat. However, the idea of having a huge calorie deficit won’t help you burn fat faster. If you chronically under eat, more than a 500 calorie deficit/ day, for days in a row, assuming you are not obese (more about that in the video) your body will take this as stress. Chronic stress will yield elevated cortisol, and chronically elevated cortisol will lead to adrenal disfunction and chronically elevated insulin. Chronically elevated insulin can lead to decrease sensitivity and ultimately diabetes. Ultimately, you don’t want a huge deficit, and you don’t want a huge deficit for too long.
Not only that, but you actually need the energy (calories) to build muscle. So if you want to have lean muscle tone, you have to build muscle, thus, you have to eat.
