Do you struggle with doing the thing(s) you want to do? Do you feel as though if you had more accountability in your life you would be better at getting in your daily workout or following your clean eating meal plan? If so, this post is for you.

Here are five ways to improve your accountability:
1. Partner with a friend or someone you admire and respect. If you tell someone you are going to do something, then they ask you if you did that thing and you have to tell them no, it causes your mind pain. Your mind does not like that. Your mind would rather you do the thing you said you were going to do, no matter how difficult it may be, than to let someone down. Now, this should be someone you respect or admire because if it’s someone you don’t really care how they feel, it’s easier to let them down. For example, if I told a girlfriend I was going run at the end of my work day, I know she would love me no matter what so I could easily skip. But I really and truly do not ever want to let down my mom and dad, so if I told them I was going to run, you better believe I’d be running.
2. Create a spreadsheet or calendar. Something where you physically mark off, cross out, shade in or write on. There’s something gratifying about being able to mark something off your to-do list, or X out a day on your calendar when you got in a workout. You could put together a spreadsheet, for example, that has all of the days of the month and the days you go for a walk you shade in green and the days you skip, you have to shade in red. Your mind won’t like seeing the red so you will be more likely to walk so you can shade it in green.
3. Plan our your workout routines or clean eating meal plan at the beginning of each week. When you have a game plan it makes it easier to stick to. You will have your grocery list, you will have your groceries and it makes it easy to follow because you won’t want to waste food or the time you spent putting together your plan. When you have a plan for your workout routines there’s no guessing game of what you should do that day – it’s laid out for you already and you will likely feel guilty for missing.
4. Start a blog or social media following and become the leader. There’s something about putting yourself in the spotlight or showing up in a leadership position that makes you want to not let people down. You don’t have to be an expert on running to start a blog about your journey to a half marathon, you simply have to be an expert on yourself and tell your story. Not only will you have people encouraging you, you will likely encourage others along the way.
5. Hire a coach/ join #Commit2Fit. Not only will I be the person checking in on your that you don’t want to let down, but you will also have be to help you set up your plan of attack each week, AND our small Facebook group is so insanely motivating, you will not want to be the person that falls behind. Everyone checks in with their post workout pics and celebrates our victories, you will want to create some of your own.
