Are you curious what I do when I set a new client up on a clean eating meal plan? If you want to know what to expect and how I create plans that get my clients lasting results, keep reading…
When a new client signs up we go over so many details about her. We begin with how many calories she burns in a day, including her base metabolic rate (how many calories she burns just being alive) as well as total daily energy expenditure which includes everything from showering to driving to work, to her daily workout as well. Calories in vs calories out does help with fat loss, but it isn’t the end all be all, but it’s very important.
We will also go over her daily schedule. This is important because I can’t ask a client to eat five meals a day if she has a job that does not allow for that. My aim is to create a meal plan that my client can easily adhere to. If I know my client starts her day at 5am and needs a pre-workout snack, her meal plan is going to look vastly different from a client that begins her day at 8am and likes to fast until noon. Ultimately, you have to like the way you are eating to stick to it long term. It’s just my job to help you figure out a plan that matches how she lives her life but also enables her to get results.
We will also take into considering what foods she is already eating, what she likes, doesn’t like or cannot eat. If I have a client that feels best eating dairy-free, she will likely remain dairy free. If I have a client that craves carbs all day, she is likely to have more carbs in her plan than someone who doesn’t. I want my clients to like what and how they eat because this is what allows them to stick with their plan long term. If my client is miserable eating chicken and broccoli everyday, it won’t last long and her results may only be short term, and that isn’t how I coach.
Finally, we also talk about each client’s goals. If I have a client that needs to lose 30 pounds her clean eating meal plan is going to be very different from a client that is lean and wants to see visible muscle tone.
Ultimately it comes down to the fact that every single human has very different needs that all need to be taken into consideration when setting up a clean eating meal plan and I take everything possible into consideration when doing this. I also recognize the fact that things change so I keep the lines of communication wide open with my clients and continue to check in with them regularly to see how I can help.
Ultimately, I try to meet my clients where they are in able to help them get to where they want to be.
