If you have taken all of the steps to lose fat, and I mean REALLY tried.. and tried, perhaps something else is going on that is keeping you from your goals.

When I work with a new client I take them through about eight steps to lose fat. From beginning to end they are:
Awareness
Decreasing inflammation in the body
Building the habit of daily movement
Consuming adequate protein
Consuming a healthy diet overall
Strength training and cardio
Prioritizing recovery practices

When each of these steps have been exhausted and changes are not taking place, we look at what may be happening at a deeper level. Many times the first seven steps will fix whatever is going on, but when it doesn’t we need to explore why.

Perhaps you have some gut health issues or digestive issues going on. It won’t matter how much protein you are getting or what micronutrients you are consuming through your clean eating meal plan if you aren’t able to digest your food properly. You may not absorb those nutrients so you won’t feel great, have much energy and definitely won’t want to workout hard enough to build muscle. So we need to look at that, although many times by decreasing inflammation, eating your clean eating meal plan and getting enough sleep will help clear up any of these digestive issues.

Perhaps you are in menopause and your estrogen and progesterone are way out of balance. You may have a lot of excess belly fat that just won’t go away no matter how many times a week you do your cardiovascular conditioning or how healthy you eat, so we can take a look at that and try to get them balanced so you can get results.

Or perhaps your thyroid is out of whack or you have some adrenal fatigue going on that isn’t allowing you to feel or look your best. We can look deeper into those issues to help you achieve your goals, though doing parasympathetic activities each day and getting enough carbs and protein can help with these things too.

Ultimately I make it my job to go through each of these steps with my clients to help them achieve their personal fitness goals.
