Can I replace a meal with a protein shake?

When you look at what’s in a protein shake, they’re generally around 100-150 calories which definitely is not a meal. That’s very few calories primarily from protein only.

A full meal or snack may be around 300-500 calories from protein, carbs and fat. Not to mention protein shakes are very processed to digest quickly so you’ll likely be hungry very quickly after.

I would really try to have other good foods on hand like leftovers, turkey meatballs, fruit, hard boiled eggs, pre-sliced veggies, nuts… if you’re starving and in a pinch there’s nothing wrong with a shake, but I would not recommend being reliant on them as meal replacements.
