I started running in 2010 after some coworkers decided to sign up for a 5k. I had never worked out regularly- ever. After gaining around thirty pounds during and after college, I decided it was time for a change and began slowly building up to participate in the 5k. I somehow managed to place 1st in my age group and was hooked!

Over the last four years, I have lost over twenty pounds and have completed several half marathons- finally breaking the two hour mark in October 2013 by finishing in 1:56. This past spring I was starting to feel like it was time for me to try something new and along came the Lean Body Workout Program.

I rarely ventured into the “other side” of the gym- mainly using the treadmill or running outside. I felt like if I didn’t run myself ragged for at least an hour- I wasn’t getting a good workout.

At first it was a major adjustment to minimal cardio, exercises/machines I had never done/used before, and having to wait between sets. But with each passing week I felt stronger and more confident in the typically male-dominated side of the gym.

I love having a set workout schedule everyday- with everything laid out for me, there’s no wasted time trying to decide what to do next. The cardio switch up every three weeks keeps it interesting and having two weeks with the same exercises allows you to go into the second week knowing what you’re doing and hopefully increasing weight as well.

I have noticed such a change in my body- more strength, more muscle, and just feeling lean all over.

 

Several people have come up to me at the gym asking me what I’m doing and why I’m not on the treadmill- I guess I had become REALLY predictable!

Those that have spoken to me about it seem very interested in the workout program and think it’s great that I’ve really been mixing things up. I can’t wait to start round two- increasing weight and continuing to grow stronger!
