In all of my years of coaching I have worked with few people as dedicated as Jen. She came to me determined – she had already lost quite a bit of weight but was ready to be truly challenged. We focused on her performance.. she wanted to RUN and d it fast. She wanted to lift, and do it heavy. And she was even able to channel her grief into these workouts to help her overcome loss and sadness. Now she gets to focus on her wedding day and I couldn’t be more proud to be someone’s coach.
I found Kyra Williams Fitness when she was the Get in Shape Girl. This was almost five years ago. I first purchased her 12 Week Bikini Guidebook which I loved but I struggled to do workout routines at the gym for close to 2 hours a day while in school.
Then about two years ago I purchased her 6 week at home workout plan. I finished it and I loved it. This past June I saw on Facebook that Kyra was having a sale on her one time meal plan. At this point of my fitness journey, I needed a change. I was in a rut and had plateaued. So I purchased her one time meal plan and signed up for her monthly membership.
This was the best decision I ever made. My original goals were just to lose my last 10 pounds but since then my goals have changed. About six months into working with Kyra, I joined Commit to Fit. Once again I was in a rut, my mom recently passed and my workout and eating habits were hit and miss. My goals for Commit to Fit were to pull myself out of my rut, to run a sub 25 minutes 5K, and to do a true strict pull up.
Working with Kyra is PHENOMINAL. I highly recommend her for anyone beginner or advanced athletes. When I first started with her I thought I was in shape, this was not true. After the first couple of workouts, I knew I was going to see results because I felt like I was going to die.
The workout routines are tough, but the feeling I get when I finish one cannot be described. Also she has turned me from a 100% non-runner (I used to hate running) to a runner. I even placed 2nd in my age division of my last 5k. I am also running my first 10K this month.
Another thing I love about Kyra is she adjusts your workout schedule to fit your needs. For example, Wednesdays are awful for me to workout because of my work schedule. However, Mondays and Thursdays I can do longer workouts. So Kyra made Wednesday optional for me with rest or stretching and Mondays and Thursday my longer ones.
Kyra is very knowledgeable in fitness and nutrition, but is also knowledgeable of the mental training needed for your fitness journey. Personal fitness is not only physical but mental also and she enforces the mental part just as much as the nutrition and physical aspect.
Physically I have achieved a smaller waist, cut arms, and a muscular back. I also am faster than ever and am on track to run a sub 25 minutes 5K by the end of April. These results have taken sometime, but have gradually happened since I started working with Kyra consistently in June of last year.
However, over the course of the last 12 weeks I have not missed one of my workout routines. This is an accomplishment for me because normally I miss at least one a week. This is with the changes Kyra has made to my workout schedule. Mentally and emotionally has been a roller coaster. I used to be the person that weighed myself every morning and would feel awful if I gained 2 pounds after a splurge weekend. Then I would force myself to get in an extra workout session to help “burn” it off.
Well this never worked for me. It led me to yo-yo crash diets and I eventually gained more weight in the end. When I started working with Kyra, I was already 35 pounds down in my fitness journey, but mentally I was weak. I would beat myself up when I had a cheat meal. I felt like I was restricting myself too much. I am still working on this, but now I stay away from the scale every morning and I do not beat myself up if I ate bad. I know I made the conscious decision to eat that meal and that is it. I also try NOT to stuff myself of my favorite meals. I eat until I am satisfied and then put the fork down.
Getting to this point has been tough. Somedays I find myself thinking I HAVE to go run off that heavy calorie meal I ate or whatever. This is when I try to take a step back and evaluate myself. I stress to myself that it is impossible to cancel out calories with cardio and this could lead to me to having bigger problems down the road. Then I tell myself that I need to eat better today. Plus I hate the bloated feeling I get when I eat like crap and my workouts suffer from it. That is my motivation to clean up my diet.
Also if I am going to a family dinner and I love the appetizers. (My family are foodies and we all LOVE to cook.) I limit myself to small bites of everything instead of large servings of everything. It would be realistically impossible for me to eat nothing while there. Plus I would be miserable and STARVING. This is where I believe I have become mentally stronger because before I would restrict myself from everything and hate myself and then eat an entire ½ gallon of Blue Bell. The small treats helps me mentally sooth the craving without completely falling off of the deep end.
I am very self motivated so it worked for me. The workouts at home were great. Also Kyra always answered all of my questions via email even if they were obvious.
I enjoyed the weekly check ins and facebook group the best. The check ins kept me accountable. It made me more conscious about what I was eating because I had to write it down. Also the ladies in the FB group were so motivating. We all are in different areas of our personal fitness journey, but we encourage each other. Plus when I see that they are pushing through their workout routines then it motivates me to push through mine.
Three benefits of this product is the workout plan, meal plan, and the ability to interact with Kyra. The workout routines are great and if you do them you will see results. I loved the meal plan especially how Kyra educated me on carb timing. I never knew after a heavy workout session you should eat both a protein and a carb. Also I loved being able to ask Kyra anything and she is very prompt with her response.
I highly recommend KWF especially Commit2Fit. Kyra is knowledgeable, inspiring, down to earth, and my favorite.. a real person. She’s straight up with her clients about her struggles not only with her fitness struggles, but her life struggles. This inspires her clients and especially me. I love her story about how she lost weight because and bikini model and is now a crossfit athlete. I enjoy working with her and I have seen great results with the help of her.
My advice to someone starting their personal fitness journey is that it takes time. You will not see results overnight. I personally have lost 45 pounds and it took me a year. Now I am maintaining my weight or gaining but losing inches and pant sizes. Do not give up if you do lose so much weight in the first month. Fitness is a journey not a destination and you have to keep working and stay consistent and you WILL see results.
Deciding to work with KWF is the best decision I have ever made. Not only have I lost weight, gotten immensely stronger and faster, I have grown as a person. Kyra helped me through one of my toughest times in my life. I lost my mother last October to breast cancer. Her workout routines gave me something to do to keep me sane. Kyra even gave me the idea to do a couple workouts in memory of her. So in my head, especially on days I wanted to do nothing but lie around the house, I would tell myself “I am going to workout for mom because she can’t.” It helped me through my grieving.
She also gave me the idea to find a run and do in in memory of her. Well last Saturday I completed the Dirty Girl 5K for breast cancer awareness, and I did it in memory of my amazing mom. Honestly, if I hadn’t turned toward fitness in this time of struggle I probably would have fallen off of the fitness bandwagon I have been on for close to a year and a half. Kyra has been great and I honestly don’t know where I would be if I hadn’t have decided to sign up for her membership and Commit2Fit.
