I signed up with Kyra Williams Fitness online personal fitness training, when I saw that Kyra was running an end of the year #Commit2Fit special. I’d been on her mailing list for a couple years and was finally inspired to sign-up after a recent weigh-in on my scale.
A couple weeks before I got Kyra’s email I stepped on the scale and saw that my weight had crept up about 15 lbs higher than I wanted it to be. I’ve struggled with my weight since I was a kid, and have lost and gained varying amounts of weight since I was 18 years old. Most recently I had lost 80 lbs in 2011-2012, and have been trying to maintain that loss.
When I stepped on the scale, I had proof that my eating habits had slowly fallen away from the healthy eating that helped me lose that weight, and my workout routines needed a jump-start. I thought that #Commit2Fit would give me the kick-start I needed, and provide the framework, accountability, and help from a professional to move me towards losing the 15 lbs I re-gained. I also thought that this would be a great program to help me get through the holidays, which is typically a very challenging time of year for me keep healthy.
I’ve had a GREAT experience with Kyra Williams Fitness and #Commit2Fit. When I first reviewed the meal plan, I was very overwhelmed and scared that I wouldn’t be able to stick with it. At the time I felt that it was much more restrictive than the way I had been eating.
Kyra gave me a week to digest the meal plan and to try it out. This was helpful because it allowed me to transition into the meal plan slowly, which I believe was one of the keys to my success. Kyra has also allowed incorporation of “treats” and a cheat meal, which has been helpful.
A couple times a week I really just want to take a break from the meal plan, and this has allowed me to do that. It has also opened my eyes to new foods and nutritional supplements, like protein powder! I was previously drinking Slim-Fast to fuel my workout routines, and one of my first changes was to move to protein powder.
Since doing this I have seen a change in my energy levels in my workout routines. I also have transitioned to almond milk instead of cow milk, which was a meal plan suggestion from Kyra. I didn’t realize just how much sugar cow milk has, and the almond milk is a healthier, and great tasting alternative.
I’ve had a GREAT experience with the KWF workout plans too. I now feel that there is balance to my strength training workout routines (which I didn’t have before). I also love that cardio workout plans don’t entail me being on the treadmill for 40+ minutes at a time. I’ve learned new strength training exercises, and the variety of workout routines has kept me from getting bored.
Physically, I started at 167 lbs and now weigh 155.6 lbs, a loss of 11.4 lbs. I also can fit comfortably into a specific pair of jeans that were WAY too tight for me before I started this program!
Mentally and emotionally, I showed myself that I CAN do what I want to do, as long as I commit to it. As I mentioned above, I was initially overwhelmed with the meal plan and doubted my ability to follow it. I felt a wave of body shame about my self-doubts, which often triggers me to feel like a failure who lacks discipline, and then binge/over-eat.
However, I told myself that I had a week to get used to the plan, and that I needed to take it day by day and make one healthy choice at a time. I wasn’t perfect throughout this program, but I exceeded my own expectations.
Kyra told me in the beginning that I shouldn’t expect perfection from myself. When I don’t get a workout routine in, or eat healthfully, I just need to re-start at the next snack, meal, day, etc. It was comforting to hear that this, and made me feel comfortable in being honest with her when I wasn’t perfect.
Lots of deeply rooted body shame, which is always present for me. I have had a complicated relationship with food since I was a kid, and I have to work every day against the disordered eating that I engaged in for many years. This program provided structure and accountability to help keep me engaged in healthy behaviors that would move me towards my goal and NOT reinforce unhealthy behaviors that I practiced for so long.
I also overcame the stress of the holidays, which make it challenging to eat clean and get workouts in! I attended holiday work functions and family parties and managed to stick super closely to my plan. I followed the entire program very closely except for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the day after Christmas, when I enjoyed my family and didn’t stress about my diet.
The custom meal plan and workout plans laid the foundation to make me successful, as long as I did my part, so that was the most helpful. I also enjoyed the 1:1 feedback from Kyra where she specifically addressed my concerns and questions, the videos demonstrating the exercises were always helpful and the daily emails provided a little reminder that I was on my fitness journey, and reminded me I had to be accountable for my choices.
I would recommend #Commit2Fit! KWF has given me the tools, structure, accountability, and support to re-vamp my workouts, have a custom meal plan that works for me, and has helped me lose 11.4 lbs!
If you want to make a change but think you lack the motivation, try anyway. Begin your personal fitness journey knowing it is a discipline, and that each step you take is a step in the right direction. Once you start seeing results, you will be inspired to keep going, even when you are having a bad day, week, or month (and that is where the discipline comes in…you will work towards your goals and health even when you don’t feel like it!). Motivation is temporary…discipline will keep you engaged long-term.
