If you struggle to fall sleep or stay asleep, Daniel Bernstein, acupuncturist and hypnotist can help you repair insomnia, holistically.

If you are like me, the beginning of the year feels so refreshing and new. It’s a clean slate – a chance to do things differently. It gives us hope as it’s an opportunity to do things better and start fresh.

I love that, but it also makes my mind go a mile a minute. There’s so many books I want to read, podcasts I want to hear, miles I want to walk! My brain is just buzzing with energy and motivation. It’s a really good feeling, except when it’s time to be asleep..

My dog, Stringer, is 11 and a half. He’s part great pyrenees and part golden retriever… I think. He’s a rescue so I’m really uncertain. But at this point he’s having a tough time. He has arthritis pain and gets around okay, but not great. There’s more of him waking us up in the middle of the night than I am used to, and it’s okay, I am happy to take care of him – he is my child!

But the downside is that the waking up with Stringer, plus having a mind that’s excited and races from thought to thought, is that when I wake up I have a really hard time falling back to sleep.

I take a few herbs and natural supplements like Valerian root, L-theanine and sometimes CBD, and they make a huge difference, but sometimes they just don’t cut it.

I read a fantastic book recently, called Rewired for Sleep by Daniel Bernstein. Daniel is a acupuncturist and hypnotist that specializes in sleep (amongst a few other things) and he wrote a fantastic book with dozens of very different tactics to get to sleep and stay asleep.

First of all, did you know that we all learn and respond to stimulus differently? I mean, of course you do, but did you know we are all different in how we respond to verbal, auditory and kinesthetic stimuli?

Some folks respond really well to listening to white noise to help them fall asleep, where as someone else may need to visualize themselves lying on a blanket at the beach and another person does really well progressive muscle relaxation. (I did the last one last night and it worked like a charm!)

Well I found all of this really fascinating and knew it could be helpful for you, so I invited Dan on my podcast where we discussed his varying exercises to fall asleep and stay asleep. There are 16 different exercises so there’s definitely one in there for you!

We talked about how to help women with hormonal imbalances sleep, how to ensure your sleep quality is good and the worst things you can do to get sleep.
