I don’t know vs I’ll figure it out. These are two statements you may use when you are lost or confused, but there’s a huge difference in the two reactions. Let’s dive right in..

Let’s say you want to lose 30 pounds.

That feels like an uphill battle. You heard your should be eating more protein. You also heard that a calorie deficit is most important. And you also heard you should be lifting.

But you sit there, overwhelmed, thinking..
“How much protein?”
“Idk how many calories I burn OR consume.”
“I know about squatting and lunging but is that even really lifting?”

You throw your hands up and mentally exclaim “well I don’t know what to do!”

So you do nothing.

Being stuck in “I don’t know” is safe. You know what you’re going to get from your lack of action. It’s not scary because you know what to expect. You sabotage yourself right out of the gate, because change and the unknown is scary. And perhaps you’ve only known yourself to fail, especially at weight loss attempts.

But then you sit, in a rut. Depressed because the 30 pounds is creeping toward 35. You don’t wanna take pictures with your family. Your pants don’t fit. You don’t want to go out with friends. You don’t feel comfortable with your partner and you fight because of it. Your confidence is wrecked.

You want more. You’re beyond ready to lose the 30+ pounds. You want your life to be more than this.

So what do you do?

Instead, this time, you proclaim “I’ll figure it out.”

You take one step. Maybe it’s eating salad, not fries. Perhaps it’s hiring a coach. It could even be giving up soda or alcohol for one day.. one week.. one month.

But you take a step. And you do it and you see it through. You build on that step. Then it becomes easy and you take another, and another. And the next thing you know you’ve lost ten pounds, you have more energy, you’re fighting less with your partner and you make a friend date with your girls. You begin to live a life of joy and fulfillment.

You may have a setback or two but you trust you can still continue on because you’ve gotten this far.

This is the reality I want for you. This is why I do what I do as a coach.

You can come to me with your exclamation of “I don’t know what to do,” and I’ve got your back. I can guide you, hold your feet to the fire, push when you need a push and support when you need support.

As a personal trainer since 2010, nutrition coach and life coach I have a lot of tools. Likely ones that can make a huge difference in your life, and if I don’t have the exact answers, I can support you while we look for them.
