After burning herself out running marathons, two cancer diagnoses, a death in the family, and a three year hiatus from fitness, Laurie rebuilt her body and healthy through believing in herself and online personal training.
My story of working with Kyra began April, 2013 when I was training and running endurance races. She taught me how to feed my body in order to sustain the stamina needed. Kyra also provided a comprehensive personal fitness program to incorporate with the nutrition for a complete package. (If you want to read more about Laurie’s previous journey, you may do so here.)
Presently, after several years of going on my own after my racing was over I gradually fell back to my old habits. This past year has been extremely stressful with my father’s death and my husband’s two-time cancer diagnosis. My stress eating kicked in hard and fast and the pounds packed onto my small frame. I reached a weight I had never experienced. I fell into a deep and sad pity party. I was miserable and hated myself every single day.
After the dust settled stress-wise I finally had a chance to evaluate me. I kept following Kyra and it was a sudden lightbulb moment. I was reading about her #Commit2Fit program and I knew instantly how I was going to tackle a huge project of claiming my health back. So, here I am and anxiously awaiting #Commit2Fit session two for me. I love it.
Working with Kyra then and now is so amazing. This woman knows what makes me tick and therefore keeps my mental and physical fires burning. She knows when to gently push and also when to provide tough love.
We are just a mere few weeks from ending my first experience with #Commit2Fit and I am so amazed how quickly Kyra’s methods work. It was very difficult at first and Kyra knew I had a hard task of climbing out of a 2-3 year hole. She was so patient with me and just kept nudging me along until I finally found a groove. It was a small groove but it was the first one I had experienced for a very long time. Now, I am churnin’ and burnin’ the calories and torching the fat. I can see it. I can feel it.
To get here I had to overcome about three years of nasty old eating habits and in that timeframe I became literally sedentary. My health was heading south both physically and mentally. At one time I could not get up off the floor without struggling. I was mortified. I believe that was my rock bottom.
I started Kyra’s personal fitness program one step at a time with both nutrition and fitness. I was literally starting all over again. But, with patience, persistence, CONSISTENCY and a great attitude I am now working out without even thinking about it. I am finding all kinds of little opportunities during a day to simply move. I am eating so much cleaner and drinking alot of water. I am feeling so amazing emotionally and physically. I am really starting to look good again!
Because #Commit2Fit wasn’t open for registration yet, I started with Kyra’s basic option of $7 per month. Her personal fitness program is worth so much more than that. You get A LOT of bang for your buck. Then, I was learning about #Commit2Fit and I KNEW I was going to take the plunge. I never looked back.
Hands down, I love the workout routines! Kyra puts together a weekly schedule that just flows together. I love it so much. I am also utilizing my Fitbit Blaze and walking a ton of miles. I am using my stairs at home like a stairmaster. I have all of the equipment I need in my home gym including a treadmill and rower. It is so wonderful to have it all right there. If I don’t have the right piece of equipment I will find an alternative or use the one Kyra suggests.
Her nutrition plan is also very easy to follow and it doesn’t take long for it to become second nature. I no longer come home from work at eat crap and I have no cravings!!! If I do get hungry between meals I know exactly what to reach for. Easy peasy!!!
However, the biggest benefit is the happiness that returns within your life because everything with this program is so balanced. Kyra makes sure you are not heading off in the wrong direction.
I would recommend #Commit2Fit to anyone in a heartbeat. Why? BECAUSE IT WORKS!!!!
Do NOT give up and no matter what…make time for yourself to work the program. You only get out what you put in. Kyra cannot do it for you. I guarantee you that you will be so happy to start with her. You will feel clumsy at first but with patience, consistency, a streak of stubbornness and persistence, things will start clicking and soon you will be churnin’ and burnin’!!!
The main piece of advice that I FINALLY learned is this is a process AND it is a new lifestyle. It is not something you do for 6 months and you are done. No…let it become a habit…second nature. Bask in the glory of the changes that are happening. Do not take it for granted. Celebrate and be happy. Keep finding new ways to keep your mindset moving forward. Do not let your guard down because those nasty old habits are always lurking in the background waiting for a slip up. Do not allow that to happen. THINK POSITIVE!
I don’t want to sound dramatic but Kyra is saving my life and my sanity. I can get up off the floor once again!!! I have a sense of pride in myself and I am smiling once again for the first time in a few years. That is so HUGE! I came out of the depths of despair to sheer giddiness. LIFE IS SO GOOD!!! Thank you, Coach Kyra, for believing in me!
