Supplements can help you lose fat and build muscle, but ONLY if you are already following a clean eating meal plan and doing daily workout routines. Supplements will not make or break your goals. Supplements are simply there to supplement you where you do not get enough of a certain nutrient from all of the healthy food you are already eating and lifestyle you are already leading.

There are certain benefits to taking supplements. Here are ones I like and recommend. You can see the full list here.
When I train I like BCAA’s. They keep your insulin up to give you energy and help you maintain muscle if you were to do fasted cardio. I take a brand called Xtend (pink lemonade is my fav).
After I workout I recommend a whey protein isolate. It is the purest form of protein and breaks down into your digestive system and gets into your blood stream and into your muscles to speed up recovery. For more about the protein I like read this.
I also take fish oil each day. A typical person usually gets more omega 6’s than omega 3’s which can lead to inflammation in the body. A diet rich in omega 3 is so healthy, but unless you are eating fish three or four times a week, it’s not easy to make this happen. So fish oil can fight inflammation, but you need to ensure that the EPA, DHA and other omega 3’s equal the total amount of omega 3’s. In fact it needs to be primarily all EPA and DHA. I like the generic Vitacost brand, Barleans and Nordic Naturals.
I also like pro-biotics. They increase the amount of healthy gut bacteria in our upper intestines that keep our immune system healthy and our gut functioning properly. You can get these from greek yogurt, but since I don’t eat dairy, I love NOW brand probiotics.
I think that to some degree I do suffer from adrenal fatigue. Not necessarily more than the average human as I think most of us do have it to some extent – it’s part of living in our current day society.
But I started taking this Adrenal Health Jump Start from Gaia and it’s been about three weeks now, and I can honestly say, I notice a huge difference in my energy. These are herbal and all natural, so they really cannot hurt anything.
My favorite supplement and the one I legit won’t leave the house with if I’m going away overnight. Magnesium gently calms your nervous system so it can be a huge aid in helping you fall asleep as well as getting you to poop. It helps my brain shut off at night and helps me get deeper sleep. So far out of any brand I have tried, I like CALM’s powder form the best.
