What’s so freaking cool about health and fitness is that everything happens together.

Many of us begin our daily workouts as a tool to lose fat and find ourselves reaping other rewards such as stronger immune function, decreased stress, improved confidence, etc.

Or there are those who begin their clean eating meal plan for improved digestion and receive the benefits of clear skin, more energy, fat loss, etc.

Everything is linked.

But this also works in the opposite way. If you live a sedentary lifestyle or eat processed crap, it’s common to have decreased energy, immune function, digestive issues, muscle atrophy, fat gain, decreased confidence, worsened mood, etc.

It’s your choice to make and every day of your life you are choosing one or the other. There’s a few things I have been researching lately when it comes to what we eat that I want to share with you..

JUNK FOOD LOWERS IMMUNE FUNCTION
“The immune system reacts similarly to a high fat and high calorie diet as to a bacterial infection. Unhealthy food seems to make the body’s defenses more aggressive in the long term.

Even long after switching to a healthy diet, inflammation towards innate immune stimulation is more pronounced. These changes may be involved in the development of arteriosclerosis and diabetes.”

SUGAR IS ADDICTIVE

If you’ve followed me for eve a short period of time, you likely understand processed food, sugar, junk, etc are bad for us and we need to aim to eat a diet made of natural, whole foods.

But sometimes addiction does get in the way. Sugar addiction is a very legitimate thing, and here’s why..

This isn’t to say you can fall back on this as an excuse, but my point is that we must recognize this and fight for ourselves here.

The food industry wants to keep you hooked so they add these things to your food items. Stay away from the packaged food items, stick to meats, veggies and whole foods and don’t let yourself become addicted!

YOU DESERVE TO KNOW WHAT YOU’RE CONSUMING

“The numerous negative health effects that have been associated with chemical pesticides include, among other effects, dermatological, gastrointestinal, neurological, carcinogenic, respiratory, reproductive, and endocrine effects.”

“A recent study examined the possible relation between glyphosate, genetically modified crops, and health deterioration in the USA. Correlation analyses raised concerns about possible connections between glyphosate use and various health effects and diseases, such as hypertension, diabetes, strokes, autism, kidney failure, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases, and cancer.”

THERE’S A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BINGING ON CRAP AND AND ENJOYING A TREAT THOUGH..
Eating a cookie you love, or a frozen margarita every once in a while is way different from sitting down with a box of crackers every night.

This week I’ve been going hard on what we consume and it’s because I am trying to educate what’s actually in your food.

But I will always advocate for balance. So if you love Oreos, having one a day or a few on occasion is worth it!
