This success story is one of my very first. I got to help me client and friend build muscle through a daily workout plan and helped her learn to truly enjoy strength training. She was no longer looking for the fastest way to lose weight, but instead, a daily workout plan to help her get lean and have muscle tone.
Three years ago, I got this urge to feel better about myself. I was active and enjoyed being active but even after I gave birth to my daughter, I had the mentality of -“I just ran on the treadmill now I can eat more.” I had just stopped nursing my daughter about June 2008 and someone made a comment about something I was wearing being snug. It hurt and I didn’t feel good in my skin and told myself it’s time to do something!
I had heard of sparkpeople.com and decided to sign up. It’s free so I had nothing to lose. Sparkpeople.com gave me all my motivation and I got hooked to a healthy lifestyle. In the beginning I would run with my kids. Pushing two in a jogging stroller was a killer workout we both enjoyed as it was “our time.” I was a cardio queen. That’s all I knew or did. I just ran and ran, and ran some more. I also ordered Turbo Jam and started doing it so I did incorporate some strength training but most of the workouts are cardio and they are fun!
Then I got the itch to try P90X, after seeing and hearing so much about it from Sparkfriends. Honestly when I first started it, I hated it. I only enjoyed the workouts that were cardio so my favorite was Plyometrics. I hated lifting weights and just didn’t get that same burn or feeling. It was a very hard adjustment for me, very hard. Eventually when I got the right weights so my workouts were more challenging things got better. I started enjoying lifting. I eventually did another round of P90X and then did Chalean Extreme.
Then a great Sparkfriend helped me with an awesome strength training daily workout plan and really helped me get more of knowledge and understanding of working different muscles and getting a good routine. I was able to create my own workouts! It was very time consuming though searching for the right combination and in all honesty I wasn’t always challenging myself and I avoided exercises I didn’t enjoy but ones that I should be doing because they would make me stronger.
Then back in February of this year I decided to sign with Kyra Williams Fitness for online personal fitness training!! This was the best decision I decided to make. She pushed me like I never had been pushed by a workout video or myself before. Having a virtual trainer was so much nicer than a workout video. I was the workout video queen and didn’t know what I was missing out on.
I enjoy being able to play my own music- It gets me going. I enjoy being able go at my own pace. We are all at different levels and have different taste with tunes so having something that fit me better was perfect! I need my music, it’s my therapy and I truly get into a zone with the right tunes! Some of the workouts with warm-ups and cool downs are over an hour long. Her daily workout plan are easy to follow, keep me moving and sweating. I just enjoy them.
I have a love/hate relationship with all the grunt work she makes you do but you know what I wouldn’t feel as confident and as good about my body like I do now if I didn’t do it!!! She’s made me stronger and has pushed me definitely like I haven’t been pushed before or a daily workout plan has! It’s great to have reliability, someone to keep you accountable and check in with weekly.
She’s just an email away which mean she’s real and she cares and she wants you to succeed! She’s made me feel confident and love myself! I’m happier, sexier, and just feel beautiful!!! Who doesn’t want that feeling!!?!?!?!
