Let’s talk about great sources of protein. These are great sources of protein to ensure you are getting enough to reach your goals.

Let’s begin with dairy protein. Things like whey, casein power, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, milk.. all great sources of protein. Sometimes people are sensitive to dairy or do not produce the lactase enzyme, making them lactose intolerant, so dairy protein isn’t for everyone. But it is a good source of protein, though it also contains fat (unless it’s processed out) and contains naturally occurring sugars. Read this about carbs to learn more about that.

Let’s move onto eggs. Eggs and egg whites are great sources as well, though the yolk contains fat.

Chicken is another great source. White meat has the biggest bang for your buck, so breast is best for high protein. But keep in mind that the skin has a lot of fat. Not a bad thing.. just be mindful. Same goes for turkey.

Beef is another great source but overall, it will be fattier. A lot of times you can see.. the white is fat. Some cuts of steak like eye round, tenderloin or flank are lower in fat. Check the label on your found beef as well.

Fat isn’t bad, but know that just because it’s meat doesn’t mean PROTEIN only.

Same goes for our other four legged animal proteins, like pork, bison, venison, etc. There will be certain cuts that are leaner than others, it just depends on how they were raised, what they were fed. The more of the muscle you’re eating the less fatty.

So, in pork, cuts like the tenderloin or chop will be leaner than pork belly or shoulder. (It’s so yummy though!)
